Ahmadu Fintiri, the governor of Adamawa State, has reopened a technical skills acquisition center that had been closed for eight years.

The center was built during the tenure of former governor Murtala Nyako and is situated in the Jibiro Girei Local Government Area of the state.

Fintiri underlined the importance of the center in kindling the productive potential of the state’s youth through entrepreneurship training during the technical skills acquisition center’s inauguration on Thursday.

The governor also mandated the recall and prioritization of 2,700 learners who had their training interrupted at any of the eight technical and vocational training facilities before they went out of business in order to complete it as the first batch of trainees.

Fintiri, who acknowledged the visionary foresight of his predecessor for the initiative to establish these centres, said this generation and indeed future generations will continue to thank him for establishing the centers, which the administration has now re-opened as a catalyst for employment generation and training of no fewer than 20,000 youths annually with various skills for trade and entrepreneurship.

The governor said, “We are making another history by injecting life back into the eight moribund Technical Skills Acquisition Centres across Adamawa State. These Centres are expected to optimally serve as centers of excellence with the capacity to train and hatch a minimum of 20,000 youths and women with the right skill sets in various trades annually.

“The Centres are structured to focus on skills acquisition and entrepreneurship training that are capable of igniting the potentials of our youths for productivity.”
