According to documents obtained by Courthouse TV, the actress’ attorneys claimed that there were errors in the jury selection procedure and legal reasoning that led to the verdict.

The defense team also argues that Depp received excessive damages in the defamation complaint.

They Assert That The Judgment Is Inconsistent.

It should be noted that the jury agreed on all three counts of Depp’s claims and found that he was due $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. However, due to Virginia state law, the latter figure was capped at $350,000.

As for Heard’s claims in the counterclaim, she was only awarded $2 million in compensatory damages. So, Depp received only $8.35 million.

Amber Heard’s lawyers insist is that the monetary amount awarded to Depp is not supported by the evidence and claim that the verdict is inconsistent, so it should be overturned.

“The jury’s verdict was obviously influenced by Mr. Depp’s pleas in the face of the Court’s preclusion of Ms. Heard’s introduction of evidence that Mr. Depp had, in fact, already been tried in the Court of his choice for committing not just one act of domestic abuse – all that was needed in this case for a defense verdict – but 12 acts of domestic violence, including sexual violence.”, states the text with which they intend to appeal the jury’s verdict.

It is striking that the lawyers are asking the court to investigate Juror 15, as it had indicated that the individual was born in 1945. However, according to alleged public information, the individual was born after 1945, that is, in 1970.
