André Onana, the goalkeeper, claims that despite his “efforts and energy” in trying to resolve a problem that football players frequently encounter, “no will on the other side.”

The Cameroonian international is taking a flight back home after being left off the roster for Monday’s World Cup match against Uruguay.

Onana is returning home from Qatar, according to a Tuesday morning report from Gazzetta, after his national team decided to temporarily suspend him for disciplinary reasons.

Onana has explained the situation from his perspective with a statement published on his Instagram stories.

Cameroon coach Rigobert Song said on Monday that Onana could have been reintroduced to the team if he had changed his attitude and respected the rules.

However, the conflict between the 26-year-old and his national team coach is described as ‘irreparable’, so Onana decided to leave the team and return home.

Cameroon has one point after two games in Group G and has little chance of qualifying for the Round of 16 given that they need to beat Brazil in the final match of the group phase on Friday.
