His Royal Highness, Aminu Derwan, the paramount ruler of Panyam in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, who was abducted by bandits, has been rescued.

After being held captive for approximately three days, the district administrator was reportedly freed last Wednesday night.

Derwan’s release was confirmed to The PUNCH in Jos on Thursday by State Police Command spokesperson Alabo Alfred.

The PPRO said, “Yes, he has been released. Thank you”

The monarch’s release was confirmed by Philip Yakubu, a youth leader in the Panyam community, who also stated that the people had been celebrating since the news of Derwan’s release surfaced last night.

The PUNCH had reported that Derwan was kidnapped in the early hours of Monday by bandits who attacked his palace in the community.

A few hours after his abduction, the bandits had contacted his family members and demanded the sum of N150 million before they could release him.
