According to reports, Franck Ribery is about to announce his retirement from football.

The 39-year-old Bayern Munich star has been sidelined for Salernitana since August due to knee issues, and it is rumored that he has opted to stop his illustrious career.

Ribery, who played for Bayern between 2007 and 2019, captured nine Bundesliga championships and a Champions League during his stint in Germany.

In addition, he contributed 103 assists in the Bundesliga after just 273 games, won six German Cups with the elite teams in Europe, and won the Club World Cup in 2014.

Despite initially intending to play into his 40s, the French winger suffered from frequent cartilage issues and growing pains in his knees, according to L’Equipe.

Ribery left the German top flight three years ago to join Fiorentina before leaving for the fellow Serie A outfit in 2021.
