Due to the poor condition of the road, particularly in the well-known Upper Iweka axis, close to the River Niger Bridge, traveling on the Onitsha-Owerri Road in Anambra State has remained a challenging endeavor on a regular basis.

About three trucks crashed on Sunday, and one of them broke down in the middle of the road.

On Friday as it was leaving Onitsha, a truck carrying scraps toppled on one side at Upper Iweka and spilled its cargo onto the highway.

This is just as another truck carrying drinking drinks coming from the River Niger head bridge also toppled at the same point on the other lane headed towards Owerri.

A motorist, Mr Uzor Tobechukwu, blamed both the federal and state governments as well as the state and federal lawmakers from the state for allegedly showing insensitivity to the plight of the people in that regard, saying the roads were abandoned because influential people don’t ply the roads often.
