Court Orders ASUU To Call Off On-Going Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities was told to end its ongoing statewide strike by the Nigerian National Industrial Court on Wednesday.

According to The PUNCH, ASUU has been on strike since February 14 to emphasize its demands for increased financing for institutions and a review of professors’ pay, among other things.

ASUU and the Federal Government had held a number of discussions that came to a stalemate.

Consequently, the Federal Government went to court to challenge the strike.

According to TheCable, the government, through its counsel, James Igwe, prayed the court for an interlocutory injunction restraining ASUU from taking further steps as regards the strike, pending the determination of the substantive suit.
