The presidential candidate of the Democratic Party, Joe Biden, on Monday was elected by the US Electoral College as the next president of the United States of America.
The former Vice-President in the election held on November 3 had 302 votes while Trump had 232 votes.
Biden on Monday clinched the Electoral College victory with California’s 55 votes.
Following this development, the coast is now clear for Biden to become the 46th president of the United States. As at the time of filing this report, the United States President, Donald Trump is yet to react to the development.

Electoral College Officially Confirms Joe Biden As US President
United States President-elect Joe Biden claimed victory in the Electoral College after key battleground states gave him and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris a clear majority of electors and he rebuked President Donald Trump for failing to acknowledge the will of the American people.
“The flame of democracy was lit in this nation a long time ago. And we now know that nothing – not even the pandemic – or an abuse of power – can extinguish that flame,” Biden said in a televised address to the nation from Wilmington, Delaware, on Monday night.
