HOW TO CONNECT A DIFFERENT WIFI TO CHROMECAST

When you set up your Chromecast for the first time, part of the setup process connects the Chromecast to your Wi-Fi. If you get a new router, move, or change your Wi-Fi settings, you’ll also need to change the network on your Chromecast. There is no option to change the network directly, so this process requires you to have the Chromecast forget your network and also then set it up again.

This is how to change the network on your Chromecast:

1. Connect your phone or tablet to your Wi-Fi network, and also install the Google Home app if you don’t already have it.

2. Open Google Home on your phone or tablet.

3. Tap your Chromecast.

4. Tap Settings.

5. Tap Wi-Fi.

6. Tap Forget This Network.

7. Select Forget Wi-Fi network and Wait for your Chromecast to forget the current network.

8. Make sure your Chromecast is plugged in and powered on.

9. From the Google Home home screen, tap the plus (+) icon.

10. Also, Tap Set up the device.

11. Tap New devices.

12. Select your home, and tap Next.

13. Wait for Google Home to find your Chromecast.

14. Tap Next.

15. Wait for Google Home to connect to your Chromecast.

16. Compare the code displayed on your TV with the code in the app, and tap Yes if they match. Or, use your phone’s camera to scan a QR code.

17. Tap I agree.

18. Tap Yes, I’m in to share data with Google, or No thanks to prevent Google from collecting data.

19. Select a location to associate with your Chromecast, and tap Next.

20. Select your Wi-Fi network, and tap Next.

21. Also, Enter the password for your Wi-Fi network, and tap Connect.

22. Wait for your Chromecast to connect to the network.

23. You will see a message when the Chromecast is connected to the new network.

    Note: You have now changed the Wi-Fi network on your Chromecast and can start using it. If you want to finish setting it up at this time, follow the on-screen prompts.
