Indians Elect 64-Year-Old Female President

Droupadi Murmu, 64, was chosen as India’s 15th president after the conclusion of the presidential election in 2022.

The female politician is a Bharatiya Janata Party participant.

According to Hindustan Times, she defeated the opposition’s Yashwant Sinha by receiving more than 64% of the valid votes cast.

She succeeds Ram Nath Kovid.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi alongside other government officials paid her a congratulatory visit.

Among other roles, the president oversees the armed forces.
