Odunayo Adekuoroye, a wrestling powerhouse from Nigeria, won Nigeria’s sixth gold medal in the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on Friday.

After defeating Indian Anshu Malik in the Women’s 57kg Freestyle Wrestling match, Adekuoroye took home the gold medal.

The four-time champion from Gold Coast won the Commonwealth title in 2018 by outlasting her rival 6-4 in the championship match.

En route to the final, the reigning African champion defeated Canada’s Hannah Taylor in the semis in a swashbuckling 10-0 victory.

The win further increases Nigeria’s gold medals so far to six, two silver, and five bronze medals.
