Albert Adeogun, Senator Ademola Adeleke’s running mate in the 2018 election for governor of Osun State, and Wale Ojo, the state party’s factional leader, led other PDP members to switch to the APC on Tuesday.

Mr. Ayodele Asalu, a PDP candidate for the House of Representatives in the Ede Federal Constituency, and Soji Ibikunle were also among the defectors.

The APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, welcomed the defectors during a gathering held in Osogbo’s Nelson Mandela Freedom Park and praised them for making the right choice to join the party.

He said, “We have received you wholeheartedly and welcomed you into an atmosphere of equality and justice.

“We invite you to join hands with us and let us work together for the development of our beloved Osun and our nation.”

Addressing the rally, the state governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, lauded the new members for taking a decisive step to enhance their political stature, saying that APC is known for fair play.

“I congratulate our friends and brothers who have made a critical decision for their political careers and fortunes. You have come at the right time and you have nothing to fear.

“You are already members, there will be no discrimination whatsoever. Senator Omisore is a testimony that our party values people of substance and gives a fair chance to all,” Oyetola said.

Ojo, who spoke on behalf of the defectors, attributed their decision to the need to align with a symbol of excellence and progress in Governor Oyetola.
