Wife Set Husband Ablaze In Osun, Family Seeks Justice

The family of Bolu Bamidele, a resident of Cairo who was allegedly burned to death by his wife Ifeoluwa, has urged security officials to take steps to capture the eluding suspect.

Bamidele, 30, was allegedly set on fire by Ifeoluwa on Sunday at their house in Koka, Osun State after she became suspicious that he was having an affair.

Bamidele was seriously hurt in the incident, and on Tuesday, he passed away at the University College Hospital in Ibadan.

During a visit to the late Bamidele’s parent’s house at Oke Baale area of Osogbo on Thursday, the elder brother to the deceased, Francis, also told our correspondent that police had commenced investigation into the matter, but the suspect had not been found.

Francis also said the parents of Ifeoluwa, who were living in at Kobongbogboe area of Osogbo had also fled home, while the younger sister of the suspect, who was with the couple when the quarrel over the infidelity ensued between them was no longer picking up her calls.

He called for diligent investigation with a view to apprehending the suspect, adding that the family of the deceased must get justice to prevent future reoccurrence of such an incident.

Francis said,

“Police have commenced investigation into the matter. The wife has not been found. We don’t believe she is dead. She is alive and hiding somewhere.

“We urge security agencies to assist us to fish her out. Bolu is the last child of our parents and we don’t poke nose our into the matters between the wife and our brother.

“We learned parents of the suspects have also abandoned their house. Her younger sister that was with them in the house is no longer picking up calls.

We hope security agencies will assist us to do a diligent investigation and ensure that justice is served. Bolu has been buried,”

When contacted for an update on the matter, the Spokesperson for the state Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, said the police had intensified the search for the suspect.
